What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites can store on your device. They are used for various purposes, including remembering your preferences, keeping you logged in, and tracking how visitors use a site.

This page explains how Stoke Van Locks uses cookies and related technologies.

Cookies I Use

Good news: I don't currently use tracking cookies

I do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking service. I don't serve advertising cookies. I don't use session cookies for login purposes.

Cookie Consent Preference (Local Storage)

When you interact with the cookie notice at the bottom of my site, I save your preference (accepted or rejected) in your browser's localStorage. This is stored entirely within your own browser - no data is sent to my servers.

Key Purpose Stored in Duration
svl_cookie_consent Stores your accept/reject choice localStorage (your browser only) Until you clear your browser data

Note: localStorage is not technically a cookie - it does not get sent with HTTP requests and is only accessible by my website within your browser. Under UK GDPR guidance, similar storage technologies to cookies may require the same level of transparency.

Self-Hosted Fonts

This site uses the Inter typeface, loaded from files hosted on my own web server (via Netlify's CDN). Unlike loading from Google Fonts, this does not send your IP address or any other data to Google's servers.

Third-Party Services

My website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Netlify's servers receive standard web server log data (including your IP address) when you visit any page. This is standard behaviour for any hosted website and is covered by Netlify's Privacy Policy .

Form submissions via my quote request form are processed and stored by Netlify Forms. See my Privacy Policy for details.

How to Manage or Delete Cookie Data

To remove the consent preference stored in localStorage, you can:

  1. Open your browser's developer tools (press F12)
  2. Go to the "Application" or "Storage" tab
  3. Select "Local Storage" and find my site
  4. Delete the svl_cookie_consent key

Alternatively, clearing all site data from your browser settings will remove this preference.

Changes to This Policy

If I add analytics or other cookies in future, I will update this policy and my cookie banner accordingly. Check the date at the top of this page to see when it was last updated.
